Wethersfield National 5 WH U10 2

The WH u10 all-stars once again came up on the short end of a close district 7 battle losing 5-2 to Wethersfield National . WH jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Michael Mack led off with a walk, moved to third on a single by Joe Morrisey and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jeffrey LaRosa. Morrisey then scored on a passed ball for the 2-0 lead. Wethersfield tied the score with single runs in the 1st and 3rd. Wethersfield took the lead for good with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th with the help of 4 WH walks and two errors. For WH, Mike Lee, Grady Brockway, Joe Morrisey and Patrick Baron had hits. Starting pitcher Michael Mack went 3 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits while striking out 5. Burke Martindale was very solid in his All-Star debut going 1 2/3 innings giving up no hits and helping himself with several spectacular defensive plays. Patirck Baron was phenomenal behind the plate allowing no passed balls and constantly picking off speed pitches out of the dirt while Jordan Scrimageour made several solid plays at 2nd base early in the game.
