U10 TRAVEL: WH U10 TRAVEL WHITE 14, WETHERSFIELD (GREY) 12

West Hartford White won their first summer ball game tonight, 14-12, against Wethersfield (grey).  WH made some great plays in the field tonight starting with Anthony Carabello in the 4th inning throwing a runner out at home from left field.  Wethersfield attempted to turn third base and Anthony threw a bullet to Spencer Martindale at home who made an solid pro tag on the runner to end the inning.  This was followed by a similar play in the 6th inning.   Brian Brewer at short stop threw a gun to Vincent Nemergut at home plate, Vincent stood his ground and took a collision from the runner, holding onto the ball and making the tag.  Two plays at home to perfection.  Right after this play, a hard hit ball deflected off the 3rd baseman rolling to Brian Brewer at shortstop.   The runner did not see Brian backing up the play, turned 3rd and Brian ran over and tagged the runner attempting to get back to 3rd base.   Three plays that showed that WH White is here to play ball.  Emmett Coco had another nice outing on the mound giving up 1 hit and two runs in two innings.  He was relieved by Jamey Nadeau who was red hot striking out 5 batters and two hits giving up one run in innings 3 and 4.  The catchers gloves were smoking from the heat that Jamey threw.  Ean Tyler and Luke Gfeller finished off the game for WH giving up only one more hit to Wethersfield.  At the bat, Anthony Carabello had a night with 4 RBIs and hitting a single, double and triple.  There was no stopping him.  In all, WH had 16 hits.  Emmett Coco, Jamey Nadeau, Ean Tyler and Brian Brewer had 2 hits apiece.  Spencer Martindale, Leo Dionicio, Kyle Bridgman (double), Chris Maglio and Luke Gfeller had one hit apiece.  A solid outing for WH.  WH starts their road trip with 4 away games coming up.  The coaches are getting the team jet fired up and are ready to face the competition.
