U10 Travel: Red Raiders Take First Loss To New Hartford

The U10 Red Raiders took their first tournament loss to a tough New Hartford team 17-9.  In the 1st inning New Hartford got on the board with 3 runs capitalizing on a few walks and 2hits. However, the Raiders tied it at 3 in the bottom of the first with with  5 straight hits including a hard double by John Scrimgeour. The 2nd and 3rd silenced the West Hartford bats as New Hartford put 3 more on the board making it 6-3.  In the 4th New Hartford put up 3 more with hits coming from the top of the order, but the Raiders got the bats going with three hits to score Dylan Malinson on a Ben Giroux line single.  Ben Giroux took the mound in the fifth to quite the New Hartford bats allowing one run, but the Raiders failed to get a runner on in the bottom of the 5th.  With the score 10-4, going into the 6th New Hartford pounded the ball scoring 7 runs on 8 hits. The Raiders came to the plate down 17-3 and scored 6 times with big hits from Tanner Deresienski (2-3), John Scrimgeour (2B,1B), Matt Keller (2B,1B), and Ben Giroux (3-3 with 2singles and a Double). The Raiders fell short leaving the bases load, with what turned out to be a very competitive game .  The Red Raiders will meet Torrington U10 on Monday with a 1-1 Record.
