Well, it couldn't last forever. Against a Newington team stacked with 9 spring major leaguers, the Dirty Dogs finally succumbed to a loss...9 - 5.

At the end of 1, the Dogs were in front 1-0 after a Miles McCarthy triple which he eventually scored on and a 1-2-3 first from Ryan Druckenmiller at the mound. Then the wheels came off. A 6-run Newington 2nd inning was all they needed to seal the coffin on the Dogs. Give credit where credit is due, Newington blasted 4 strong hits to pace the 2nd inning attack. Coupled with 3 walks, those 6 runs came easy. Ryan Druckenmiller (2.0IP, 0K, 4H, 3BB, 6R, 4ER) will try to forget this one and look to his next start for redemption. Dirty Dogs always come back to fight! Terrific middle relief came from Marcos Massa (3.0IP, 3K, 2H, 2BB, 3R, 2ER) who controlled Newington when we needed it most. Spencer Altman (1.0IP, 3K, 1H, 0BB, 0R) came in for the final inning, striking out the side in the 6th.

The Dogs saw a lot of K's at the plate in this game with Newington throwing heat all night. In total, the Dogs struck out 11 times in this game. A feat which will send all of them back to the pound for a little extra BP. Notable plate appearances came from Miles McCarthy (2-2, 1RBI, 2R, triple, double) who continues to pound the ball game in and game out for the Dogs (way to go Miles), Ryan Druckenmiller (1-2, 1R) and Marcos Massa (1-3).

Dogs don't like to lose. Next up is Rocky Hill and the Dogs are looking to get back on the winning side quickly. Look out Rocky Hill. These Dogs are hungry....

Here's a look at our top five hitters so far this summer (thanks to Coach Keller)! Way to go guys!

OK, since when is 7-11 a 1.000 batting average Keller? Are you just making numbers up?
