In a game where the coaches had nothing to do but smile, the WHLL Dirty Dogs Travel team lit up the scoreboard in a hitting (and pitching) bonanza, beating Manchester - B....21-4.
Superb pitching was led by Paul Van Doren (2IP, 2R, 0ER, 4K, 1H, 0BB) and Marcos Massa (2IP, 1R, 0ER, 2K, 1H, 3BB). In a game where they had all the run support they needed, the pairing of Van Doren and Massa pitched strong right into the 4th. Closing the game were Ryan Druckenmiller, Owen Hyland, Spencer Altman and Matt Keller. The Dirty Dogs have shown very sound pitching so far this summer.
At the plate, safe to say everyone contributed in this game, but the highlight of the day was the raw power of Spencer Altman who not only belted a triple in the first inning, but crushed (and I mean crushed) an 0-1 pitch OVER the left field UCONN fence for a 2R home run. It was the highlight of the day amongst a barrage of hits (15 total) from almost every player on the team. Other stellar plate performances came from Shamus Biggs (4-4, 5RBI) who after making some pre-game adjustments suggested by Coaches Keller and Massa, turned out a perfect day at the plate.
The rest of the team was drilling the ball all day too. Miles McCarthy-Reynolds (3-3, 4R, 1RBI), Ryan Druckenmiller (2-3, 2 doubles, 3R, 2RBI), Paul Van Doren (2-3, 2RBI), Owen Hyland (1-2, 1RBI), Matt Keller (3BB, 2RBI) and Seth Meisler (1-1, 2RBI) all contributed big-time with their bats and their patience at the plate.
Great game boys...you should be proud of this one...it was a gem!!!
