Opening Day!!! Instructional Division is off and running!!! Play ball!!

What a huge success Opening Day was for WHLL.  The weather was great, the fields at UCONN looked great and most of all the teams and players looked great!  To think, there was 4 feet of snow on all of our little league fields only 2 months ago.  The 2011 Instructional Divsion is off to the races!!  Our divsion is the largest in WHLL with 280+ players, 80+ coaches and 22 teams.  All of the teams had an opportunity to play on Opening Day and the feedback from players, coaches and parents was outstanding.  At the Instructional level, coaches continue to teach the fundamentals of baseball but also get into more of the structure of baseball as well.  Players get an opportunity to play each position (including catcher, with gear), hit live pitching from a coach and turn a 6-4-3 double play (I'm kidding).  Most of all, the coaches in our division are determined that each player has FUN each and every practice and game. Our moto for the 2011 season is, "YOUR BEST IS ALWAYS GOOD ENOUGH."  We encourage mistakes, strikeouts and outs.  We preach listening, hustle and have FUN.  We are determined to make Instructional a very safe and non-initmidating stepping stone for the upper divisions.  So please, if you have a chance to catch one of our games we would love to have you down at the field.  You won't be disappointed, like the division director who is a die-hard Red Sox fan and is the head coach for the Instructional Yankees.  Ouch!  Only time in my life I have said the words, "Go Yankees."  Best of luck to all of you this year in WHLL.
