MAJORS: TotalVision Eyecare Center A's 6 Murtha Cullina Marlins 5

The TotalVision Eyecare Center A's and the Murtha Cullina Marlins  hooked up in just a great quarter-final round playoff game at UConn with the A's coming away with a 6-5 walk off victory. With the win the A's will move onto the semi-finals Wednesday night at UConn to take on the Braves.

The Marlins got off to quick start by scoring 3 runs in the top of the first. Consecutive hits by Kevin Puleo (1-3,R), Danny Dashefsky(1-3, R) and Nichloas Paul(2-3,2R,RBI) plated two runs and Paul hustled home on a pass ball for third. The A's battled back in the bottom of the first with two runs of their own. Ben Ellovich (1-1,R,2RBI) delivered a clutch single knocking in both Charlie Lage (0-1, 2R) and Spencer Altman(2-2,R, RBI). It should be noted that if not for Tommy Evelein's great catch in right field on a hard hit ball off the bat of Connor Blodgett(1-3,2R) the A's might have scored additional runs in the first.

Both starting pitchers settled down after the first and pitched just great games. Lage(5.1IP,5R,2ER,11K,2BB) for the A's and Burke Martindale(4.1IP,5R,3ER,5K,) for the Marlins both showed real toughness on the mound as they battled through some tough hitters and even tougher conditions. Eli Freilich (.2IP,2K,BB) came in for the A's in the sixth to close down a Marlins rally to earn the victory.

Congratulations to both teams for putting on a great show and representing WHLL with distinction.
