Glastonbury Americans held off a late WH rally for a 5-3 win in the openning game of the district 7 tournament at the UCONN complex. Glastonbury jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st after two were out. Nick Clement doubled driving in Mark P who singled for Glast. They stretched the lead to 2-0 on a single by Tyler V off WH starter Sam Fiske. Fiske pitched well for WH going 4 innings giving up 8 hits and 5 runs. WH closed the lead to 2-1 when Patrick Baron (1-2, 1 run) scored on a groundout by Grady Brockway. Glast. Am. scored 3 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd for a 5-1 lead. WH's never-say-die attitude came thru in the top of the 5th when they scored two runs to shrink the lead to 5-3. Joe Kitz and Patrick Baron led off the inning with walks. Michael mack lined a ball that was caught in right but allowed both runners to tag up and advance. After Grady Brockway grounded out, Jeffrey LaRosa grounded sharply to first and when the ball was bobbled, both Kitz and Baron scored. WH reliever Michael Mack retired Glastonbury 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 5th to keep the game in striking distance. Patrick O'Keefe led of the WH 6th with a walk. With one out. Oliver Anderson drew a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd. With Burke Martindale at the plate, a pitched ticked off the glove of the Glastonbury catcher and the runners attempted to advance. However,the Glastonbury catcher pounced on the ball and threw a strike to 3rd to nail O'Keefe. Martindale then popped out to short to end the WH rally attempt. On to Wethersfield for game 2.

Hope you have had a great Memorial Day weekend! We are looking for a big showing at the parade this morning and all games are on following the parade as scheduled.

NOTE:  WHLL Fields are under heavy construction as the Miracle League Field, playground, Field 2 bullpens and paving are being completed.  PLEASE BE CAREFUL and mindful of hazards.

WHLL's primary fields are located at our WHLL Baseball Complex at Trout Brook Dr. and Asylum Ave. All field dimensions are regulation 200' from home plate to outfield fence.
