MAJORS: WORLD SERIES CLUB MARLINS 11 - HARTFORD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ORIOLES 7

What competitive baseball!  The Marlins and Orioles squared off in a mid-week, see-saw, bird versus fish battle sponsored by area non-profits. The O's flew ahead in the first with 2 runners plated including an RBI single by Chase Meyers.  The Marlins responded in the bottom half with a lead-off triple by Jeffrey LaRosa (3-3), a solid hit by Spencer Altman (2-2) and RBI singles by Jack Brennan (2-3) and Nate Skuba (1-3).   Like the comeback of Baltimore's Smiling Bird, the O's wore a big grin…See More

MAJORS: WORLD SERIES CLUB MARLINS 4 - KELLER MAINTENANCE BRAVES 1

The Marlins and the Braves, sporting their Mother's Day pink socks, gave a much appreciated gift to all the moms:  a fast-paced pitchers' duel.   Marlins starting pitcher, Spencer Altman, was en fuego for 5, striking out 12 and allowing no runs.  Lefty Brave, Matteo Ramirez-Webster (4 1/3 IP, 7 K's) responded in kind, maintaining a scoreless game through 3.  Ramirez-Webster helped himself by going 2-3 at the plate, including a double to start the game.  But the Fish broke through with 3 in the…See More

MAJORS: WORLD SERIES CLUB MARLINS 5 - TOTALVISION EYECARE CENTER A'S 0

Play Ball!  As in, remember, don't coach (too much) and just let them play.  Former basketball teammates of one month ago, former baseball teammates from last year and many others had banded together or matched up, no matter.  The Marlins and A's looked solid and were ready to go on this chilly, bright and perfect afternoon of opening day. A fast-paced game featuring strong pitching from both sides, the Marlins helped their starting pitcher, Spencer Altman (4 K's), with strong defensive plays…See More
