On a fine day for baseball the Pirates and the A's engineered a great game for the fans. The A's pitching staff featured strong performances by Emmett Coco who pitched 3 innings and had 6 K's in relief of starter and gamer Julian DeCampos who handled the first two frames. Abrianna Teodore also impressed with a late inning performance that kept the score close. Makeup games can be a challenge for the coaches to arrange and sometimes the players arrive tired and uninspired. Well, that was not the case when the Angels and the Pirates met to play during a Saturday practice. The Angels pitchers were led by Nate Cutler who managed to 2 hit an aggressive Pirate club for 2 and 2/3rds innings. On a pleasant and blessedly DRY May evening the Pirates and the Dodgers renewed their cross country rivalry with a well-played game. The Dodgers were led by strong pitching performances from Jack Newhouse, Connor Skarzynski and Sam Giangreco with Paul Verner contributing a fine catching performance behind the plate. Monday was a day without rain and the AAA Pirates and Marlins celebrated by playing a fine game of baseball. For the Marlins starting pitcher Bobby Gerity led the defense pitching 3 strong innings with 5 Ks and 3 good throws to first to nab Pirate hitters. Seamus O'Connell also furthered the Marlins cause with a solid 5th inning at catcher. WHLL's primary fields are located at our WHLL Baseball Complex at Trout Brook Dr. and Asylum Ave. All field dimensions are regulation 200' from home plate to outfield fence.
